Privacy Policy — Last updated May 2026
All messages, display names, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
This data never leaves your device over the internet. There are no GhostChat servers, no databases, and no cloud backups.
GhostChat uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to discover nearby devices and relay messages. Your chosen display name is broadcast over BLE only to other nearby devices running GhostChat.
Messages travel device-to-device through the local mesh network. They are never routed through any server or internet connection.
GhostChat does not require an account. On first launch, a random UUID is generated and stored locally. This identifier:
GhostChat contains no third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or tracking SDKs.
GhostChat does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 or from any users. No personal data is collected by the developer.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
